Filling in the form above will provide you with a list of planning consultants and surveyors  who can assist you in the planning process.  They will be a mixture of Building Surveyors, Structural Engineers, Architects, planners and other people familiar and experienced with the application process.  On receiving their contact details you should enquire as to the experience and expertise to help you make a choice.  It should be useful for you to initially phone some of them and speak in general terms about your requirement.  Before appointing a consultant and placing an order you should ensure yourself that your chosen supplier has the relevant qualifications, licences, experience and insurance to provide the level of service that you require.  There is of course no obligation to use any of the property experts that you have been introduced to.

For most building projects such as new build, house extensions, loft extensions etc, planning will of course be required and the planning authority will need to be contacted.  It is also important to consider any legal or other restrictions over the property.  These may appear in your Title Deeds.  Historic buildings will also have further requirements and permissions that will need to be taken into consideration.  In addition to meeting planning requirements you may also have Building Regulations requirements that you will also need to be in compliance with.
